The Full Story
My name is Christopher Castro, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in New Jersey. I received my undergraduate (B.A Psychology) and graduate degrees (M.A Psychology) (Professional Diploma in Marriage and Family Therapy) from Kean University. I received my internship experience from a non-profit in Newark, NJ while seeing individuals, couples, and families with an array of mental health, behavioral, and relational concerns. Along with experience at a non-profit for five (5) years, I have also worked at two (2) private practices for the past three (3) years while continuing to work with individuals, couples, and families via a telehealth platform. As a licensed therapist in New Jersey, I can conduct therapeutic sessions within the state. My theoretical orientation of choice is Internal Family Systems (IFS). I believe this theory guides individuals with a better understanding of how they react and behave systemically. I specialize in couple therapy; concerns with managing depression and anxiety, and aiding individuals and couples with effective communication skills. I look forward to meeting you!
Our Mission
Communicate to Wellness is focused on creating a therapeutic telehealth environment for individuals, couples, and families. Within this environment, the therapist will model core values (Consistency, Compassion, Curiosity and Communication) to facilitate effective skills and have everyone reach their maximum potential to communicate effectively and improve their general well-being.
Core Values
1. Curiosity
It is always important to stay curious about ourselves, and those that we have relationships with. Curiosity allows us to inquire further and gain new information about ourselves and others.
2. Consistency
Without consistency, new behaviors will never be learned. Consistency is important for not only learning and creating new behaviors but also for ensuring these new behaviors remain with us for a longer period.
3. Compassion
We are usually taught to have compassion for others but what about being able to feel deeply for our own experiences or trauma? When we learn to become compassionate toward ourselves, we shift the perspective in which we see ourselves and others around us.
4. Communication
By nature, we are social beings. We thrive off having social connections with others; even if it feels daunting in the beginning. Communication is the main factor in nurturing relationships with friends, family, our partners and ourselves.
